More About Abbey!

Born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, Abby is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University. After graduation, she hopes to become a licensed professional counselor.

In 2023, Abby received her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Film Studies at Case Western Reserve University. During her undergraduate years, she did research on various topics, such as depressive symptomatology in Latinx fathers, coping and gratitude, child OCD symptoms, and parents’ exposure to media and psychological symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, she is working on a research study involving seminarians’ experience of psychological assessments in the Catholic church.

Abby worked at Chatham University’s Independent Monitoring for Quality Program as a researcher and monitor, which organizes interviews with people with intellectual disabilities to gather information to ensure that they are safe, healthy, and are receiving services that promote choice and control in their lives. She also worked as a Milieu Therapist on UPMC McKeesport’s Behavioral Health Unit, working first-hand with patients who experience severe mental illness.

Abby enjoys studying and working with a wide range of clients and communities. She is especially passionate about working with clients in the LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and disability communities.

Outside of work, Abby can be found reading fantasy and romance books, watching (and talking about) movies, and spending time with her friends and family.
