More About Matt!


Matthew Steiner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Vice President of Connection Counseling and Consultation, Inc. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002. He earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh in 2013.

Matt began his social work career working with children and families within the Child Welfare System in 2003. He gained invaluable experience working alongside a diverse population of children, families, and colleagues. He learned about trauma and the intricacies and challenges within family systems, as well as the resilience and resourcefulness of the human spirit.

Matt has been in private practice since 2017. Within his practice, he focuses on creating an environment in which everyone feels safe, accepted, and empowered to explore and express what they are ready to express and how they feel comfortable expressing it.

Matt considers himself an eclectic therapist who is client-focused, strength-based, and humanistic. He utilizes aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt, and Mindfulness in his treatment. Matt is currently participating in a cohort through the Gestalt Institute of Pittsburgh.

In his time outside of work, Matt enjoys writing and recording music, spending time in nature with his dog, Dottie, cooking, and going on adventures with his wife.
